Christmas

Skylar had a great Christmas. She learned quickly how everything worked. She loved the presents from everyone! I only wish we could have been with all of you this Christmas. Here are a few highlights from Christmas morning.

She would not put the doll down...even to watch a movie.

Then, when we got home, she had more presents to open.

she was clawing at the plastic around these pet shop toys. She loves these things and could not get it open fast enough. As I pulled each one out, she grabbed it from me, hopped around the table and lined it up with the others.

Then came the kitchen. Daddy spent 2 1/2 hours putting this together, but it was worth it. This is her playing with it in the morning...

and in the afternoon...

and just before bed...

She loves everything. Thank you all, we love you. See you next year.

Like Mother, Like Daughter

Check out the hair. I think she is going to have my curls.
(this is the best I could do finding a picture of my hair...)

Look at those ringlets

Mrs. President

Skylar pooped in the potty yesterday for the first time. She could be president some day.

Yay Skylar

sleeping

Skylar is a very light sleeper, but I managed to get one good picture of her. This is how she sleeps...

Every night, you can find one or both limbs hanging out through the bars, sometimes in odd positions. I wonder what she is going to do when we put her in a big girl bed.

Time for Christmas

And that means it is time for shopping lists again...I just do this to try to make it a bit easier for those of you trying to shop for her.

Here's some suggestions for Skylar that I know of that would "enhance" her little world.

A little Kitchen
Wal-Mart has this one for a great price! It doesn't have to be this one exactly...but she has played with this one lots and seems to like it the best. She likes one with LOTS of little cabinets and she already has the pots and food.

Cleaning Trolley

Step 2 push around buggy. Oh my gosh, she is in love with this thing and has been for a long time.

baby stroller

If Skylar is in a nursery, everyone working knows she will have the stroller the whole time. She's pretty obsessed.

Other random things are:
- chocolate fleece blanket. She loves fleece blankets and needs a good winter one for her bed.
- dolls.
- Books!!! We LOVE BOOKS! A gift certificate for books is great! She is really into them and would have a blast going to pick some out.

Thats all I can think of. I hope that helps.

Lots of love.

My little helper

Skylar is a great helper. She tried to help get herself dressed to go outside. I guess she thought she needed a hat.

This is also the day before we took the pacifier away. No more pictures with her mouth covered up. (You like the half painted wall behind her?) ha ha

My Southern Belle

Southern Belles are born, not made. We live in TN, but my husband is from the northwest and I am from...well...all over. Neither of us really has a southern accent at all. Maybe southern accents are something you are born with if you are "from" the south because my baby seems to have it. Particularly when she says "bye" and "dog". It doesnt get more southern than her. My dad would be proud that her "dog" comes out just like a true Georgian- "DAWWWG"!

Here's to bringing back the southern belles.

Happy Halloween

Well, she had a hard time saying trick or treat, but our baby went trick or treating for the first time. We got lots of pictures, and she had a great time. She was a little roaring bumble bee. Oh yes, I said roaring. She cant say bzzzzzzz well, so she did what she knows how to do- and something about being in a costume just made her want to roar.

She is quite an organizer, so picking up candy and putting it into her basket was the thrill of the night. Everyone thought she was so cute they gave her extra candy and took some pics of their own. And instead of saying thank you, so gave big high fives!

San Diego

Skylar's first trip to the beach. She loves water and this picture is priceless.

Ghetto

This picture is from a few months ago, but I forgot about it and just found it again.

I ran out of diapers and didn't know it. Of course, I didn't realize until she got stinky and I tried to change her. I lucked out and had a diaper from earlier in the day that Daddy ripped, so I grabbed that and pulled a "McGyver".

Please tell me I am not the only mom out there that has had to tape a diaper on my kid???

Terrific Two's

I know she isn't 2 yet, but it is coming quick. She is already a pro at tantrums- well, kind of-

Skylar is soaks life up, but she is a bit cautious. So, her tantrums consist of her gently sitting down, putting her hands back to brace herself, and slowly lowering herself to the floor...then lying her head down. After that, when she knows she is safe and unharmed, she will cry. The whole process takes a good minute.

So, we were playing in our ghetto pool today (definition= the pool in the back yard on the deck) when she decided to throw a tantrum because I would not let her drink the pool water. As she began to lower herself backwards a light went off in her head and she remembered she was in water. She looked up at me unsure of her next move since she couldn't complete the fit of rage, and I just burst out laughing at her. After a second she realized it was pretty funny and laughed too.

(and of course, repeated the comical moment another 10 times).

July 4th

Skylar spent July 4th with her best friend Emma. They had a blast! It was really a first for both of them since they were too young to enjoy it last year. We BBQed, had a pool party, played, and watched fireworks...and of course, they both got to stay up late which they thought was soooo cool- to a point- then they just wanted bed. (Dad and I had a great time too-but thats just a side note).

Skylar and best friend Emma- who also happens to live across the street- what a blessing!!!

Playing in the pool.

They decided we were too boring and took off

Sidenote: This is Emma and Skylar on their first trip to Chuck E Cheese. Fun stuff.

Deprived

I never felt like my child was deprived...until now.

She has reached an age where she likes to sit in a chair; lay on a couch; recline and get comfortable sometimes. (Especially if she is sick, she wants to cuddle with me and just sit- or lie). The problem is, this is our bonus room:

No furniture, as you can see. Can't really cuddle here.

Which means, if she wants to relax and watch a movie occasionally, she has to do it on our computer, which of course sits on the desk. So...here is what she does:

and then she does this:

Does anyone else feel as sorry for her as I do right now?

Birhday Pics

Ok, I know they are a bit late, Skylars birthday was April 6th, but I finally have some pictures of her big day.

The excited birthday girl!

We went all out for her cake (this year!)

The most gorgeous kid ever!

She finally gets SUGAR!
